Hi, I’m Zoë. I am a writer and I live in Islington with my husband, Andrew. On this blog I cover the things I am most passionate about. This tends to mean entertainment, people and food, with a few dogs added into the mix too.
I review restaurants as honestly as possible, but in a constructive way. Of course all thoughts on my blog are my opinions. I won’t lie to you and tell you a meal was the best of my life just because it was free from a PR, and I will always disclose when I have received free stuff in exchange for an honest review.
I am from the south east of England originally, but spent three ropey years studying Politics at uni in Liverpool.
I’ve lived in London for about seven years, and most of that time I’ve spent in Islington. I love it there, but also enjoy venturing outside N1/N7 to explore the rest of the city.
I also love to travel widely, and went around the world for eight months when I was 21 with my then-boyfriend now-husband, Andrew. We had only been together five months when we set up – God knows what we were thinking. We spent four months in South East Asia before heading to Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. We ended up in LA, where my brother lives. Since then we have been on lots of trips, and suffer from incurable wanderlust. On our list of places to visit is South America (so want to go to Patagonia), Costa Rica, Japan, Iceland, the Florida Keys, Canada and Morocco – this list is constantly getting longer. My philosophy is life is short, so you’ve got to make the most of it. I don’t like visiting anywhere twice: holiday destinations, hotels, restaurants – it drives some people mad, but I don’t really care.
I’ve written quite a lot about my wedding to Andrew on the blog too. We got married in August 2015 after 10 years together. We grew up in the same town, but only properly met after uni when we were 21. We quickly became firm friends, and then, well, we fell in love. I guess that about sums it up. He’s a brilliant guy, and puts up with me being generally the world’s most annoying person. He even sends me photos of dogs that he sees in the street. He works in TV as a producer, and spends his free time asking me endless questions.
I’ve spent my career writing in one guise or the other. I’ve edited kids magazines, I write columns for the interiors section of the Daily Mail, I’ve worked on Marie Claire, InStyle, heat, Stylist, The Observer. I’ve been around the block, OK? Right now, I work for a content agency creating printed magazines, apps and videos for their clients.
